December 31, 2019 marked an end to a decade and the beginning of a new year, 2020. Reflecting back on 2019 I feel I've satisfied my New Year's resolution. Although I still have UFOs, I certainly put a big dent in my projects. As I finished quilting each quilt and bound them I fell in love with each one all over again. I think they are beautiful. Pretty exciting to see them finished. Also, this past year I have become a better blogger by learning the format better and staying on top of my postings.
That being said I think 2020 will be more exciting.
My New Year's resolution for 2020 will be to "focus on success" - break on through to the other side. Create a finish line for my projects, but not to get overwhelmed. Sounds simple enough. I decided to break down my goals and accomplishments monthly. Monthly goals will help break up the year with the changing projects I work on. This will also give me opportunities for success every month. I am also looking forward to new quilting challenges.
So first at hand is January:
I have been working on Moda Blockheads 1 from 2017 and am almost done. So by the end of January I will have this quilt completed.
Now to tackle some other UFOs. Dare I commit to quilting one quilt every week. I love challenges and this sounds doable. There are five weeks in January. If I accomplish this goal I will have completed five quilts. Now that's very exciting. I will give it a try.
I have committed to another quilting group called String A Longs. We will meet monthly with challenges of making string quilts. Although I have made a couple string quilts, this is a great way to help use up my fabric stash. Also, it is always fun to share ideas with fellow quilters. Our first meeting is January 7. So I will have a string quilt challenge to add to January.
Sounds like a busy January, but it's winter in northern Michigan and I can't think of anything better to do than stay inside where it's warm and sew away.
Maybe I'll even reward myself at the end of each month when my goals are accomplished. What will be my January reward? I think I'll buy a big bouquet of fresh flowers for my dining room.
So fiddle-lee-dee fiddle-lee-dum
Look out baby 'cause here I come
